Khmu Mountain Coffee
Khmu Coffee is a Lao ethnic minority based in the mountains, people usually live in the jungle, Khmu Coffee is aiming to bring some Khmu people to come to the city and help us operate our coffee and helping us working in the Khmu Coffee shop in town, where we sell our coffee and bean. By doing this younger Khmu students will be able to be responsible for their own tasks and maybe, later on, they might be able to help their family. After farmers have planted the coffee bean, it will take at least three years for coffee to be harvested, then we will buy these coffee beans from the farmers, then we will roast it and we will divide where each bean would go. Some beans would market local cafes or hotels and offices ( local business ) and some would be exported to different provinces and even neighboring countries and furthermore to around the world.
Khmu Coffee is offering jobs for local farming who have the skills to plant the coffee bean in the mountains. It hurts me so much to see someone that you know is consistently broken and doesn't have to confront life the way you wish them to be. Our aim is to create a way for them to use the skill that they have in a useful and meaningful way. This coffee farm is another form for them to use their farming skill for a better job in the future. We don’t want to just build a school or hospital for them but we want to create jobs for local farmers to be able to generate some money for their family by doing this some income from the coffee that we made on the coffee market will use some percent to give back to the community. Our main goal is to serve the community that we belong to and improve the lives of people who live in the countryside of Laos. This Khmu Coffee is not going to serve only people in Laos but we aim to export it around the world and we wanted people to know who we are and what we do for society. This Khmu Coffee is not a personal business but instead, it is a social business that we help each other to grow and develop our community.
